Description: This leaflet features two designs: a boy and a girl are each dressed in Victorian-era clothing. Each is riding a rocking horse decorated to coordinate with what they're wearing: the boy: a navy sailor suit, and the girl: a long rose-mauve dress. Background Information: This pair of designs originally appeared in Just CrossStitch Magazine; they were later released together as a leaflet. They were designed to accompany an article about yours truly, and needed to be kept a manageable size to fit the magazine format. I decided to design the horses with riders (for a change!) and make them as different from each other, yet as complimentary to each other as possible- an interesting challenge. (Were I to design them today, they would definitely need to have borders!)
Stitching Comments: The charts for these designs are very clear, since they are computer-generated. Be prepared for lots of quarter stitches, but floss blends are minimal (only 5!). Specialty Stitches: lazy-daisy, French knot Important Tips: Charting Technique |
