Description: Two small, country-style pieces designed for navy fabric: A shepherdess in a red hooded coat and wooden shoes watches over three wooly black-faced sheep. A goose-girl wears a blue coat, apron, and wooden shoes, and tosses grain to three hungry white geese. Background Information: These pieces were originally designed for and appeared in Just CrossStitch Magazine; they were later released together in a leaflet as part of a series of designs marking the 10th anniversary of that magazine. The challenge was to design small, easy patterns without making them consciously "primitive" in style. (A true challenge for me as I prefer to work large!). As with most of my earlier designs, I would probably, if designing these pieces now, opt to surround each with a simple folk-style border...
Stitching Comments: Even though these are very small designs, they do contain numerous quarter stitches, so I wouldn't classify them as simple. The charts are fairly clear, and there are only a few blended floss colors in each pattern. Specialty Stitches: French knot Important Tips: See: Charting Technique Shepherdess
