Description:
This design is the floss conversion of the Wool-Cross design "Fruits".
A quartet of luscious fruits: red apples, golden pears, fuzzy peaches,
and purple plums is united by a golden twisted rope border.
Background Information:
I received so many requests for floss versions of the new Wool-Cross designs,
that I decided to make the conversions to floss available. Unfortunately,
since there are not direct one-to-one conversions between Appleton wool
colors and DMC and Anchor floss colors, it was necessary to have all the
conversion designs re-stitched, and the charts altered accordingly.
There were enough differences to warrant publishing the conversions separately.
"Fruit Quartet" is the second published conversion.
Stitching Comments:
This design is constructed entirely in whole stitches with no backstitching
(?!?!), making is an ideal piece for a relative beginner. The cover model
was stitched over-two using 4 strands of floss on 20-count Lugana, but
it could also be stitched on a 10-count fabric like Tula, which would
give yeild a stitched piece the same size. The design can also be stitched
using 2 strands of floss on a finer weave fabric for a smaller finished
piece, and it could easily be adapted as a bellpull or as a dramatic horizontal
design.
