Description: A collection of ornaments inspired by the wonderful forms in gothic tracery. The collection is charted for floral embellishment in several different techniques: beads, cross stitch, simple ribbon embroidery, and lazy daisy specialty stitches. Background Information: I am fascinated by the forms in gothic tracery; those shapes inspired these ornaments. It became a challenge to explore the different variations within the forms by moving the elements around within the pieces, and then embellishing them to their best advantage. I kept in mind the stitchers who love simple basic cross stitch, as well as those who prefer to "change things up", so there are a LOT of charts in this collection. (NOTE: The .pdf pattern file is 28 pages long!) Hopefully, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
Stitching Comments: I would rate these ornaments "medium" in difficulty, but only because of the quarter stitches, and the ribbon embroidery (if one hasn't done it before). I really like the colors against the raw linen color of the fabric, but these ornaments would be very dramatic on dark fabric...perhaps navy? (I was tempted!) Because there are only a few colors used, changing the scheme from the mauves I used to others should be a breeze. Specialty Stitches: attaching beads, ribbon embroidery, lazy daisy, french knot Tracery Ornaments Materials List
